Exposure to Endocrine-Disrupting Chemicals and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in Later Life

چکیده

Abstract Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), one of the most common chronic metabolic diseases, involves a complex interaction among genetic, epigenetic, and environmental risk factors. The incidence prevalence T2DM are rapidly increasing globally. In recent years, body evidences from both human animal studies have displayed an association between exposure to early unfavorable life factors such as endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) in later life. exogenous EDCs can lead disadvantageous consequences because they interfere with synthesis, secretion, transport, binding, action, metabolism endogenous hormones. also long-term adverse effects on newborns, children, adolescents by causing increased susceptibility adults. This review summarizes advances this field, including diabetes-related (bisphenol A, phthalates, chlordane compounds, parabens, pesticides, other EDCs), EDC gestational mellitus, prenatal perinatal exposures T2DM, adult transgenerational well possible diabetogenic mechanisms.

Developmental exposure to endocrine-disrupting chemicals programs for reproductive tract alterations and obesity later in life.

Many chemicals in the environment, especially those with estrogenic activity, are able to disrupt the programming of endocrine signaling pathways established during development; these chemicals are referred to as endocrine-disrupting chemicals. Altered programming can result in numerous adverse consequences in estrogen-target tissues, some of which may not be apparent until later in life. For e...

Exposure to Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals and Male Reproductive Health

Endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) can interfere with normal hormonal balance and may exert adverse consequences on humans. The male reproductive system may be susceptible to the effects of such environmental toxicants. This review discusses the recent progress in scientific data mainly from epidemiology studies on the associations between EDCs and male reproductive health and our understand...

Obesity, diabetes, and associated costs of exposure to endocrine-disrupting chemicals in the European Union.

CONTEXT Obesity and diabetes are epidemic in the European Union (EU). Exposure to endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) is increasingly recognized as a contributor, independent of diet and physical activity. OBJECTIVE The objective was to estimate obesity, diabetes, and associated costs that can be reasonably attributed to EDC exposures in the EU. DESIGN An expert panel evaluated evidence f...

Endocrine disrupting chemicals

The idea that xenobiotic chemicals could inappropriately modlate the endocrine system thereby causing detrimental effects n wildlife and humans was first proposed 20 years ago at the atershed Wingspread Conference [1,2]. These endocrine disruptng chemicals (EDCs) have long been controversial, with a great eal of discussion raging in the scientific literature. Much of this ontroversy has centere...
